The government of Iceland has imposed a wide range of restrictions on public life in the country, including a ban on all events with more that 100 participants. In several countries, including Iceland, there are also severe restrictions on international traveling. It is therefore highly unlikely that any foreign participants will be able to ski Fossavatnsgangan this year. If we will be able to stage the race at all, it will have to be a modified and scaled-down version, presumably with domestic skiers only.
As always, our main responsibility is to stage the race in a safe way for our skiers, staff and the whole community of Ísafjörður. We will therefore continue to act in accordance with the directions given by our authorities. We will issue a new statement next week with updated information. Until then, we kindly ask you to bear with us and not increase the burden on our already overflowing email system. Please note also that we cannot answer any questions regarding a possible refund until we have a clearer picture of what awaits us in the coming weeks.
